In May 2026, manufacturing GDP declined by 10.7% year-on-year. This result was mainly attributable to the contraction in primary manufacturing (−41.7%), reflecting lower industrial fishing activity affected by the impacts of the El Niño phenomenon. However, this decline was partially offset by the growth in non-primary manufacturing (+5.4%), driven by the strength of domestic demand.
