Between January and July 2025, artisanal fishing landings totaled 776 thousand MT, representing an increase of +50.4% compared to the same period in 2024 (516 thousand MT). This growth was driven by higher catches of jumbo flying squid (+155.6%), jack mackerel (+22.3%), mackerel (+6.4%), seaweed (+26.6%), mullet (+34.4%), anchovy for direct human consumption (+102.3%), shark (+19.3%) and hake (+6.2%). However, some artisanal species showed a decline in landings, such as bonito (-19.4%) and mahi-mahi (-80.8%).
