Monthly Fisheries Survey

The “Monthly Fisheries Statistics” survey is a research activity conducted by the Economic Studies Office of the General Office for Impact Assessment and Economic Studies. Through this survey, basic statistical information is collected on the productive and economic performance of the Fisheries and Aquaculture subsector.

General objective

The purpose of the “Monthly Fisheries Statistics” survey is to collect, analyze, quantify, and consolidate data on the productive performance of industrial fishing and aquaculture activities, in order to provide reliable and timely information on the different variables related to the evolution of productive activity in the Fisheries and Aquaculture subsector, across its various phases and operational areas nationwide.

Objectives Specific
  • To provide consistent, reliable, and timely information on the monthly performance of productive activity in the Fisheries and Aquaculture subsector, covering the phases of landings, harvesting, processing, and marketing of hydrobiological resources, disaggregated by species, landing sites, and product types in their various presentations.


  • To ensure the dissemination of reliable and timely information on the basic variables of fisheries and aquaculture activities, in order to analyze the subsector’s short-term productive evolution and provide supporting data for the calculation of various macroeconomic variables of the extractive and productive sectors by the National Statistical System and public and private institutions.


  • To provide qualitative information on the current situation and expectations of the industrial fishing and aquaculture sector, in relation to its performance within the broader context of national economic activity.
