Fisheries and Aquaculture Directory
This section presents the directory of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The directory provides the following information: company name, International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Rev. 3, ISIC description, and location by department, province, and district. This information is obtained from the administrative records of the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (SUNAT), the Ministry of Production, and private entities.
In 2023, extractive activity in the fisheries sector recorded a 34.4% decline in volume compared to 2022. This performance was mainly explained by unfavorable oceanographic conditions, including the presence of warm waters caused by the Coastal El Niño phenomenon — EFEN during much of the year, which affected the extraction of anchoveta destined for the fishmeal industry. In this context, in 2023, the value of Extractive Fisheries GDP amounted to PEN 1,672 million, representing 0.30% of National GDP. Of this value, 75.1% corresponded to direct human consumption — DHC, equivalent to PEN 1,256 million, while 24.9% corresponded to indirect human consumption — IHC, amounting to PEN 417 million.
On the other hand, in 2023, aquaculture harvest activity recorded a 32.8% decrease in volume compared to 2022, with harvest reaching 94,758 MT. However, in 2024, a recovery is expected in scallop farming (+27.0%) and trout farming (+10.7%), since these farmed species were affected the previous year by weather factors and social conflicts.
