Fishing and Aquaculture Directory
This section presents the directory of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the fishing and aquaculture sector. The directory includes the following information: company name, International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Revision 3, ISIC description, and location by department, province, and district. This data is sourced from the administrative records of the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (SUNAT), the Ministry of Production, and private entities.

In 2023, the extractive activity of the fishing sector experienced a 34.4% decline in volume compared to 2022. This performance is primarily attributed to unfavorable oceanographic conditions (the presence of warm waters) caused by the Coastal El Niño phenomenon (EFEN) for much of the year, which impacted the extraction of anchovy destined for the fishmeal industry. In this context, the value of the Extractive Fishing GDP in 2023 amounted to 1,672 million soles, representing 0.30% of the National GDP. Of this value, 75.1% was attributed to the Central Highlands Region (CHD), equivalent to 1,256 million soles, while 24.9% was attributed to the direct human consumption (CHD), amounting to 417 million soles.
On the other hand, in 2023, aquaculture harvest activity experienced a 32.8% decrease in volume compared to 2022, with the harvest reaching 94,758 metric tons. However, for the year 2024, a recovery is anticipated in the cultivation of scallops (+27%) and trout (+10.7%), as the previous year’s crops were impacted by climatic factors and social conflicts.
