In January 2026, artisanal fish landings reached a total of 119 thousand MT, representing a significant increase of 50.8% compared to the same month in 2025 (79 thousand MT). This growth was mainly driven by higher catches of jumbo flying squid (pota) (+418.7%), bonito (+61.5%), dolphinfish (perico) (+137.2%), and silverside (pejerrey) (+192.5%). However, this increase was partially offset by lower landings of jack mackerel (jurel) (-52.0%), mullet (lisa) (+9.9%), seaweed (algas) (-59.3%), among others.
