GDP in the fishing sector recorded notable growth of 24.9% compared to the previous year, driven mainly by higher anchoveta catches intended for indirect human consumption (IHC). This was mainly due to favorable oceanographic conditions for the anchoveta fishery, which made it possible to allocate a higher total allowable catch for the first and second 2024 fishing seasons in the north-central zone.
