The performance and significance of the leather and footwear industry from 2019 to 2024

During the period from 2019 to 2023, the production of the leather and footwear industry decreased at an average annual rate of (-13.4%). Furthermore, between January and November 2024, the industry experienced a decline of (-17.5%) compared to the same period of the previous year. This result was influenced by the lower production of sneakers (-99.5%), sandals (-66.5%), and suitcases and briefcases (-33.0%), although it was partially offset by the increase in the production of wallets (+166.0%) and bovine leather (+164.4%).
