Over the past five years, the total number of formal businesses in the VRAEM increased at an average annual rate of 3.3%. In 2024 alone, 17,224 formal businesses were registered in the VRAEM, representing an increase of 8.6% compared to 2023. Of these, 97.1% were microenterprises, 2.7% were small enterprises, 0.1% were medium-sized enterprises, and 0.1% were large enterprises. In addition, 44.2% of formal businesses in the VRAEM operated in the trade sector, while 42.4% were engaged in services.
