In 2024, 17,224 formal businesses were registered in the VRAEM, representing an 8.6% increase compared to 2023. Of these, 97.1% are micro enterprises, 2.7% small, 0.1% medium, and 0.1% large enterprises. In addition, 44.2% of formal businesses in the VRAEM operate in the commerce sector, while 42.4% are engaged in services. Likewise, the Ayacucho region accounts for 34.1% of all formal businesses in the VRAEM.
