The metalworking sector plays an important role in Latin America’s economy, contributing 16% to the region’s industrial Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating around 24 million jobs. In Peru, in 2024, the metalworking sector accounted for 9.4% of the manufacturing industry’s Gross Value Added (GVA) and represented 1.2% of national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It also generated around 3.0% of total private sector jobs nationwide.
