The textile and apparel sector is one of the most important manufacturing sectors for the development of the Peruvian economy, due to its potential, which is reflected in employment dynamics. Between 2016 and 2020, it accounted for nearly 2.1% of employment nationwide. Likewise, in 2020, it contributed 0.8% to national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 6.3% to manufacturing GDP.
