March 2025: Current Situation Report on the Fishing and Aquaculture Sector

GDP in the fishing sector recorded a significant increase of 29.1% in March 2025, marking five consecutive months of growth. This result was mainly explained by higher catches intended for indirect and direct human consumption (IHC and DHC). Total landings amounted to 210.0 thousand metric tons, representing an expansion of 141.4% compared to March 2024, when landings reached 87.0 thousand metric tons. In addition, it is estimated that, in March, the fishing sector contributed 302 million soles, at constant prices, from extractive and processing activities, accounting for 0.6% of national GDP.
