In May 2024, sales in the domestic trade sector recorded a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, as a result of higher sales across activities within the sector, such as department stores (+4.4%), home equipment stores (+2.2%), pharmacies and drugstores (+13.9%), hardware and home improvement stores (+11.1%), and book and newspaper retailers and stationery shops (+14.9%).
