In August 2024, aquaculture harvests totaled 8,073 metric tons, an increase of 2.5% compared to August 2023 (7,875 metric tons). This growth is primarily attributed to a significant rise in the harvest of scallops (+189.6%). However, frozen aquaculture production amounted to 2,558 metric tons, representing a 23% decrease compared to August 2023, when production was 3,339 metric tons. This decline is attributed to a reduction in the production of frozen shrimp products, adversely affected by unfavorable weather conditions.
