The mahi-mahi resource is the second most important artisanal fishery in the country, after giant squid. This fishery is exclusive to artisanal fishing, generating local income and jobs for more than 12,000 families. Its extractive activity supplies fish for domestic consumption and serves as raw material for the industrial sector, particularly for the production of frozen products. In addition, mahi-mahi seasonality occurs from October to February, when fishing volumes are higher and exceed average levels.
