In December 2021, extractive activity in the fishing sector contracted by 12.2% in volume terms compared to December 2020. This result was mainly explained by lower landings of hydrobiological resources intended for direct and indirect human consumption (DHC and IHC), affected by unfavorable oceanographic conditions along the Peruvian coast, such as swells and light to moderate winds.
