In December 2023, sales in the domestic trade sector recorded growth of 1.0% compared to the same month of the previous year, as a result of higher turnover in supermarkets and hypermarkets (+7.2%), as well as in books, newspapers, home equipment products (+0.5%), and stationery items (+61.1%). In contrast, this increase was partially offset by the negative sales performance of department stores (-6.1%), hardware and home improvement stores (-12.9%), and pharmacies and drugstores (-5.9%).
