In December 2023, manufacturing production recorded a significant decrease of 10.9% compared to December 2022. This result was mainly explained by lower activity in the primary subsector (-29.3%), particularly due to lower anchovy catch intended for indirect human consumption (IHC) during the second fishing season in the north-central zone in 2023, which was affected by adverse weather conditions. The non-primary subsector also recorded a slight decline of 2.6%, due to lower demand from the construction sector.
