In 2023, manufacturing production recorded a decrease of 6.8% compared to 2022. This result was mainly explained by the reduction in domestic demand, of around 2.0%; the contraction of manufactured exports, particularly textiles, chemicals, iron and steel products, and wood products; social unrest within the country; and adverse weather conditions that affected the normal performance of industrial activity.
