In July 2022, internal trade sector sales increased slightly by 1.4% compared to the same period the previous year. This result was driven by the positive performance of sales in supermarkets and hypermarkets (+1.4%), pharmacies and drugstores (+16.5%), as well as books, newspapers, and stationery items (+66.5%). In contrast, this growth was partially offset by the negative performance of sales in department stores (-1.6%), hardware and home improvement stores (-7.2%), and home equipment products (-13.8%).
