In 2017, MSMEs contributed 31% of national value added and generated 89% of employment in the private sector. Given the significant role of MSMEs in the economy, this study provides a detailed analysis of formal MSMEs based on a set of basic characteristics, such as business size, sales, and employment by economic sector, among others.
