In May 2024, landings of hydrobiological resources in the fishing sector totaled 1,554.4 thousand metric tons, representing an increase of 1,076.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. This result was mainly explained by higher anchoveta catches intended for indirect human consumption (IHC), which increased by 18,992.7%. In contrast, it was partially offset by a 20.1% decrease in catches of resources intended for direct human consumption (DHC).
