In May 2024, domestic trade sales recorded growth of 4.9% compared to May 2023. This positive result was mainly due to higher sales in department stores (+4.4%), hardware and home improvement stores (+11.1%), home equipment stores (+2.2%), pharmacies and drugstores (+13.9%), and book and newspaper retailers and stationery shops (+14.9%). In contrast, this performance was slightly offset by a decline in sales of supermarkets and hypermarkets (-0.2%).
