July 2023: Domestic Trade Current Situation Report

Domestic trade sales recorded a decline of 4.3% compared to July 2022. This result was mainly explained by lower sales in department stores (-12.4%), home equipment stores (-12.3%), and hardware stores (-16.1%), and, to a lesser extent, by lower sales in pharmacies and drugstores (-4.0%) and book and newspaper retailers and stationery shops (-3.1%). In contrast, this performance was partially offset by higher sales in supermarkets and hypermarkets (+4.4%).
