August 2023: Domestic Trade Short-term Report

In August 2023, domestic trade sales registered a decrease of (-3.5%) compared to August 2022. This result is mainly due to lower sales registered by hardware stores (-21.4%), department stores (-2.7%) and home equipment (-8.8%); to a lesser extent, sales of home equipment (-8.8%) and department stores (-2.7%) also declined. In contrast, this behavior was attenuated by the increase in sales in supermarkets and hypermarkets (+1.2%), as well as pharmacies and drugstores (+4.0%).
