In October 2023, sales in the domestic trade sector recorded a decline of 4.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, as a result of lower turnover in department stores (-12.8%), hardware and home improvement stores (-16.3%), home equipment products (-7.7%), and pharmacies and drugstores (-6.4%). However, this decline was partially offset by the positive performance of sales in supermarkets and hypermarkets (+2.3%), as well as book and newspaper retailers and stationery shops (+9.7%).
