The OECD Committee for Fisheries (COFI) presented its evaluation report on Peru’s fisheries and aquaculture sector, within the framework of the country’s OECD accession process. The report highlights that Peru’s policy frameworks perform favorably against the standards of member countries, supported by science-based management that has helped keep fisheries resources healthy and productive. COFI sets out recommendations aimed at strengthening governance, fisheries management, monitoring, control and surveillance mechanisms, the fight against illegal fishing, and the development of aquaculture.
