  • The Regional Growth Diagnostic Sheets employ a methodology based on the studies by Hausmann et al. (2005) and Hausmann, Klinger and Wagner (2008) in their original version on economic growth, later extended by Ianchovichina and Lundstrom (2009) to analyze inclusive growth.

  • By identifying the economic barriers in the region, a comprehensive diagnosis is prepared, including a chain of logically consistent causes or syndromes.

  • While the main appeal of this type of study is its flexible and adaptable methodological approach to different contexts, allowing for straightforward interpretations of reality, they have a heuristic nature, often conditioned by the availability of information.

  • This methodology, known as HRV, identifies constraints in the economy by dividing them into two categories: those that increase capital costs and those that reduce the expected returns on investment. It uses an "adjusted decision tree" to develop economic growth diagnoses, starting from highly aggregated results (such as the economic growth rate) and moving down to potential causes or syndromes (top-down approach).
